John Lisson
While everybody is aware of Eric Lisson and his Round Ireland 2002 success, our featured customer this month is his legendary father John.
You can't miss John who sits down the far end of the bar (known locally as nuts corner). He used to be in the pub trade himself, but is now very glad to be sitting on the right side of the bar and he is regularly seen sipping his Tullamore Dew or pint of Beamish stout and smoking a cigar.
While his son won the "Round Ireland", John did his bit for the 'All Ireland" (a club for the "Best" a long time ago in Cork).
His wife Mary (aka Mother Goose) thinks he's a saint, but we know that there is a wild streak in him. This can be seen in his other racing interest - a horse named "Symbolie Bay".
He is indeed a man with a deep and interesting history. He always has a kind word or a bit of advice for everyone, so the next time you're in the bar, make sure you take time out to meet him.

Here is a poem about John written by one of his biggest fans, Curly:
John Lisson - A man for all seasons
He'll have a drop or two, but make sure that Beamish is flowing.
Automatic cars that have Autopilot... your only man!
Says he will I have a Piquer or Half Corona?.
He was the man for the All Ireland and now the man for Nuts Corner.
He's got more friends than enemies we can all be assured.
But his best friend of all is Mother Goose, his old doll.
To be in the trade he used to be,
now says "thanks be to jaysus, this is the side for me"
