Kimberly (biscuit) S. Sheehan

kimmy sheehanKim was born in Minnesota, USA in August of 1975. Famous back then for her smile and charm, she came into our lives here in Cronin's after meeting local boy Simon Sheehan. The couple met while Simon was on holidays for three months in the States. On his first night being there he was introduced to this "gorgeous drumer"... and the rest as they say is history.

They had two weddings, one in Cork for Simon's family, where the afters were held in Cronin's. Another big wedding party was then held in the Carlson Manor in Kim's home town. They both now live in America, where Simon has his own painting business. Kim works there part time and also as a waitress.

At the time of this interview, both were back for a two week break in Crosser.

Kims hobbies include long walks on the beach. In Crosshaven, this means a stroll along Myrtleville and at home its off to Gull Lake Beach in Brayineard, Minnesota.

She is also a pretty talented musician and has been playing the drums now for 13 years. She also took up the mandeloin 3 years ago. Music is a major part of her life and a big influence in her daily life. It is no wonder so, that Kim also partakes in some Jazz singing.

Her favourite band is "The Squirel Nut Zippers" and her favourite Irish traditional band are "The Chieftans".

When we asked her what the highlight of her life has been so far, she answered "marrying Simon", no surprise as he was sitting very close to her at the time!. We think though, that it must have been a Bungee Jump, which she did in South Padre Island a few years back.

Married life has been good to them, but it's clear who is wearing the boots in the relationaship, as Kim says she gives Si his allowance every week.

Living in Minnesota, they tell us, is like constantly living on the edge. Temperatures reach up to 105oF in the summer and winter brings wind chills to -80oF. Storms are vicious, as they are living on "Tornado Alley'. Kimmy remembers the tree in her back yard splitting in two one night and the sky turning pea green. "A scary experience for a child" she says.

Kims favourite lunch time dishes in Cronins are the French Onion Soup and Fresh Mussels. She also loves the open fire during the winter, where she has her morning coffee at 11am.

We don't know when Kim and Simon will be back in Crosshaven, but when they do, be sure to say hello to "The girl from America".
